FAQs
Common Questions
Light Fright or Full Fright?
We get this question a lot. "How old do you recommend someone be to come through your show?"
We suggest you make the call. Each kid, teen, and even adults handle "scary" differently. We consider our show pretty scary. We won't make you crawl or pick you up, but we get in your comfort zone and possibly make you cry.
Do I have to purchase tickets online?
No, we just offer that option for convenience. Don't like to plan ahead? Just show up with your group during open hours and choose the general admission or fast pass line. We accept cash, card, and all tap to pay options. Occasionally we have connectivity issues, so be prepared, cash is king!
How many can be in a group?
We always recommend smaller groups for the best experience, but we will allow up to groups of six. When inside, stay moving. Do NOT wait or try to reconnect with your friends! But more importantly, never stop unless instructed by staff. There are other groups coming up behind you. We'd like to scare you through our facility, not cattle you through it.
General knowledge and common courtesy...
As a new patient, you will be granted access to paths and corridors of the asylum and our other attractions. Watch where you're going and always stay on the lighted paths. For the safety of you, our staff, and all incoming patients, please refrain from using inappropriate comments, flirting, and social requests while on property. You never know who you're talking to under that mask or makeup. Touch us, and you and your group will be guided to the nearest exit, without a refund.
General Admission or Fast Pass option
With the purchase of your general admission ticket, you'll be granted access to all three attractions. The GA queue line can get long as we get closer to Halloween, so plan ahead and visit early. We will be processing incoming patients as quickly as we can. Want to jump the line and see the Doctor sooner? Get into the fast pass line and pay $30 per admission and be the next ones in line to enter.
Want to be a joker?
Please leave the clowning around to Scabby and his gang. Let us scare you! Not show you the way to the door. Refrain from touching anything and nothing will touch you, on purpose. If you are seen recording the show once inside, you will be asked to surrender your phone until the exit or be asked to leave immediately.
Haunt accessibility
Unfortunately, due to the tight twists and turns and outdoor portions of our haunt, mobility scooters and wheelchairs don't have the space needed to navigate safety through our facility. Our deepest apologies. Crutches and walkers have made it through successfully. Another common question we get asked a lot: is it safe to attend while pregnant? We certainly don't want to cause any premature labor, so we ask you to use your own discretion. We currently don't have any crawling spaces so that should help.
Bad weather and proper footwear
If the weather is questionable, refer to Facebook to see if Dr. Pauling will be opening the doors.
Get cold easily? We will be processing incoming patients as quickly as we can. Want to jump the line and see the Doctor sooner? Get into the fast pass line and pay $30 per admission to be the next ones in line to enter.
We highly recommend that you wear proper footwear while visiting our haunt. Not for running purposes, of course. But be smart. Don't wear your favorite pair of white Nikes, or heels. The ground is uneven in some spots you'll be walking. If the weather misbehaves, some of our outdoor paths will be muddy. Be prepared!

Plan Your Visit
Dark Chambers Haunted Attraction is located off of highway 61, exiting the highway can be tricky coming from Iowa and Illinois. So give yourself plenty of time to slow down or approach Frontage Rd. from the north. Do NOT take Birchwood Rd; there is no access to our property.
